I absolutely love bullet journaling and am always looking for creative gifts for my BuJo friends. I put together a list of the best bullet journaling gifts for your loved ones. The best gifts are those that will be used daily, and these will certainly be used – a LOT!
Gift #1 – Bullet Journal Stencils
These are extremely inexpensive, and make adding fun callout boxes, doodles, and decorations to your bullet journal. Some of them include formal letters and numbers, while others have fantastic banners and page dividers. These are really small and will fit inside most bullet journals, including the A5 size. Some of my favorites include the multi-packs. Seriously, for less than $10, you can buy a pack with several stencils. Who won’t love that? You can pick up ones in plastic, but I prefer the elegance of the brass stencils.
Gift #2 – Spencerian Penmanship and Copybooks
Ok. When I get rushed, my penmanship can be pretty bad. How bad? Even I have trouble reading it sometimes. I can’t tell you how many times I wrote down a critical piece of information in my bullet journal only to review it the next day and I can’t figure out what I wrote! Urgh!
The Spencerian Penmanship books provides lessons on the art and beauty of fine penmanship. With so much of our work moving to computers, keeping an old-fashioned skill of penmanship is treasured.
Gift #3 – Storage for Markers
I am embarrassed to tell you how many markers and pens I have for BuJo. Seriously. Embarrassed. I even have some duplicates of my favorite pens, not because I wanted a backup. No – it’s because I couldn’t find my pen and had to order another one. Sure enough, when the order arrived, I found the first one. Urgh! I hate wasting money like that.
I finally realized that I should have a better way to organize my pens and markers. I picked up a marker storage tray to keep these pens all in one place. Your bullet journal addict will adore having all her pens in one place, nice and organized. It sure saved me a lot of time searching and searching for the pen I wanted.
Gift #4 – Hand Drawn Stickers
Drawing and organizing a bullet journal is fun. It’s relaxing. It’s therapeutic. But, with a few gorgeous hand drawn stickers, you can make your bullet journal REALLY shine! I love the variety on Etsy, plus I like helping out the small businesses on the site.
I use my bullet journal for daily planning, meal prep and grocery shopping and there are tons of gorgeous stickers that are available. My favorites are the little stickers for the meal prep pages. I adore those! They are so inexpensive, but I guarantee that they will be treasured.
Gift #5 – Bullet Journal Covers
I take my BuJo everywhere. It gets beat up in my purse and it is a race to see if I run out of pages before I wear it out. Sad, right? I stumbled across another mom who was writing in her bullet journal at the park.
She had a gorgeous leather cover on it. Seriously, gorgeous! I took out mine, barely hanging together, and we shared a good laugh. When I got home, I found a ton of different bullet journal covers online. I definitely recommend picking up a cover. It was well worth the investment.
Gift #6 – Stamps
Don’t get me wrong. I love stickers and stencils for my bullet journal, but there are sometimes that a stamp is the best tool. I picked up a set of calendar stamps. I figured I would use them often enough (at least monthly, right?!) that stamping out the calendar would save me enough time to be worth the few bucks.
I favor the thin, silicone stamps. They are thin enough that they are easy to store and wash off really easily. You don’t need to buy the wood-backed stamps anymore unless you really love them.
Using these stamps for repetitive pages in the BuJo are worth every penny.
Gift #7 – Washi Tape and Storage
I use a wood dowel to keep all of my washi tapes organized. It isn’t a lot of fun, though, when I want to use one of the patterns at the bottom of the stack. You can use them to add borders or arrows. Hop on Instagram and look up washi tape and you will not thank me, you will be mad!! They are so cute and you will want them all! Look at some of the great ideas out there!
Gift #8 – Leuchtturm A5 Hardbound Dot Grid Bullet Journal
You can never have enough bullet journals, right? I especially love the Leuchtturms. These have 125 pages, hard bound and come in a ton of different colors. Because I use bullet journals in a couple areas of my life, I tend to segment a bit more and this helps me out on that!
Gift #9 – Brass Protractor, Straight Ruler and Triangle Ruler
After a few (too many) coffees in the morning, my ability to draw a straight line is certainly challenged. I had a heck of a time trying to draw a grid for weekly spread. When I was done, it looked really bad. The lines weren’t very straight, and were shaky. The easy solution to this was to quit drinking coffee – just kidding! I picked up these brass rulers and protractor instead. They fit right inside my BuJo cover and are life savers. You can see some of my early BuJo examples on the site where the lines aren’t perfect, and I’m great iwth it. It’s real and it is how life is. Not everything can be “Instagram-worthy” and I hope you all can be real right along with me.
As an added benefit, I don’t have to slow down on my coffee intake!
Gift #10 – Bullet Journal Pens
You will want to make sure you have fine point for drawing boxes, outlines and writing. Writing down things to do with a thicker tip is just messy and you won’t be happy with your outcome. Stick to something .4mm range for that.
Also will need some brush pens so you can color in flowers, leaves and vines. It also helps to have these to make beautiful calligraphy type writing. Tombow makes our favorites as the come in such gorgeous colors and last!
Gift #11 – Glitter Pens for the Bullet Journal
Glitter pens are so fun and can add a lot of pizazz to your journal for little money. This is probably more for the girly girl in us! Sargent has a pack for under $7 so it is a huge bang for your buck gift!
Gift #12 – Xyron Sticker Maker
This is a BLAST! I love making my own stickers. I have had this for YEARS! You can pick one up via Amazon or use your Michaels coupon and get one for 50% off. They are hidden at the bottom row near the floor in the glue aisle. Take your time to look for this awesome tool. I can’t believe how much I use mine.
So, you can print anything out that is less than 1 inch wide (there is a larger one if you need to go that route). Run it through the Xyron and out comes your paper made into a sticker. No electricity, no batteries. It is one of those items that, if mine broke, I would buy another one. I love it that much. For about $9, it is one of the best value gifts you can give.
Gift #13 – Zippered Pen Case
Take it with you and not lose all your treasures. Like I mentioned earlier, I can lose things because I don’t always put everything back in its designated spot all the time. So this helps me a lot. If you are inclined to sew, there are adorable patterns to make your own cases on Etsy.
Gift #14 – Die Cut Machine – Sizzix, Cricut or Silhouette
This is about taking your BuJo up to a whole new level. You can create just about anything you want if you have the Cricut or Silhouette. They both have features to trace and draw your own designs and then print them out. Gone are the days of purchasing expensive cartridges. They are addicting though. For anyone that treasures her BuJo, these can be a cream of the crop gift.
Gift #15 – Hand Lettering Books
There are a couple of incredible books out there to help us all out! I know my lettering is not as beautiful as I dream of it to be! These hand lettering books show us how step by step to make those dream-worthy letters that can be transferred to our Bullet Journals.
