This is a HUGE family favorite! We love the cooked apples as the base in this recipe and we fight over who gets the ones in the refrigerator. The apples only take 10 minutes to make so don't skip this step!!
In a small 2 qt sauce pan, combine the ingredients
Peel and chop the apples into small bite sized pieces.
Cook over medium/high heat for 8-10 minutes, stirring occassionally. The apples should be soft and the sugar should be thick. Allow to cool before adding to oats.
Apple Cinnamon Overnight Oats
Place 1 tbsp of cooked apples on the bottom of the 2 pint jars, layer with oat mixture, Continue layering until the jar is full. ** All of this layered in two pint jars!
You can substitute canned or fresh apples in place of the cooked apples for this recipe. If you use fresh, cut them super small and toss them in a little cinnamon sugar. Use only old fashioned oats for this recipe. Quick oats will become gummy. You can add nuts, chia seeds and other opt ins as you like.
