If you think coloring is just for little kids, you’re clearly missing out on one of the most relaxing trends around. It’s actually a really popular way for adults to unwind, and surely enough, teens can reap the same benefits. That’s why I made these free printable ornamental coloring pages for teens. They have some complex designs that are challenging to color but relaxing at the same time. And they make great wall art!

Finding an activity that can compete with a smartphone for a teen’s attention can sometimes feel like an impossible mission. I think coloring is one of those activities that might convince them to put the phone down for a while.
It’s not just a ‘kid thing’ – it’s a wonderful way to destress and tap into your creative side. So if you notice your teen enjoys coloring, it’s definitely worth encouraging and supporting.

🎨 Coloring Tips & Supply Ideas
As I already mentioned, I started coloring a bit myself during my quiet evening moments. It’s surprisingly relaxing!
As the days went by, I found some ways to make my experience even more enjoyable, and they work for pretty much everyone, teens included.
👉 Find Your Favorite Coloring Tools
While the jumbo crayons we have for little kids are great if that’s what you have on hand, I also experimented with different tools to make coloring these detailed pages much more fun.
Fine-tipped markers are great to fill tiny spaces, and a good set of colored pencils or even watercolors will let you blend colors like a pro. Sometimes I like to use gel pens or metallic markers to add a bit of shimmer.
👉 Create a Relaxing Vibe
The ambiance is just as important as the coloring process itself! I like to put on a good podcast or one of my favorite music playlists, pour myself a cup of tea, and sink into a comfy chair.
Even for teens, turning this simple activity into a relaxing ritual offers the perfect escape from the daily hustle (and the overused smartphone or tablet).
👉 Show Off Your Finished Masterpiece
Once you fill a page (or more), don’t place them in a drawer only to forget about them. You made something beautiful!
There are so many cool things teens and adults can do with their finished art. You could frame your favorite pages for some unique wall art (or even a wall art gallery), use them as custom covers for school binders and journals, or even cut out the patterns you like best to create cool collages for other projects.
Since this is a new hobby for me, I’d love to know if you or your teen enjoy coloring too, and what are your favorite coloring themes?
