Do you have a “little elf” more interested in causing mayhem than making gingerbread houses? Use this free printable Naughty Notice to remind them that Santa’s always watching….and he’s got a direct line to the North Pole Surveillance Department! Grown-ups might get a kick out of it too!
Now, I’m not saying that my house is always filled with perfectly behaved angels during the holidays. In fact, I have vivid memories of Christmas Eve scavenger hunts gone wrong and one too many gingerbread house casualties. Let’s just say frosting can be a formidable foe!
So what can you do when your little bundles of joy turn into sugar-fueled whirlwinds of mischief?
I think a little dose of humor can go a long way in reminding them that good behavior has its perks and this printable Naughty Notice delivers the message loud and clear with a hilarious rhyme. This is way more fun than a lump of coal!
😈❗❗ Editable Naughty Notice
I designed this free printable to be editable. This way it’ll look like an authentic document coming straight from the North Pole. After all, our little ruse needs to be convincing!
✏️ How To Edit
👉 Once you download the PDF, open it with the free Adobe Reader, or any other PDF reader app you’d like.
I don’t recommend opening it in a browser, Mac’s Preview app, or other apps that can open PDFs without being actually specialized apps for this. The fonts might not show up correctly.
👉 With the file opened in a PDF reader, you can edit the “Issued To” and “Date” fields, highlighted in blue. Simply delete the placeholder text and type in your child’s name and the date.
👉 If you want to fill the Naughty Notice by hand, delete the text in the Name and Date fields before printing.
📜 Naughty Notice Delivery Ideas
Now for the fun part – delivering the Naughty Notice! Let’s add some drama to make this truly convincing.
Think of it as a mini-holiday performance with your little ones as the stars. Here are a few ideas to get those imaginations running wild:
⭐Left on your welcome mat – Imagine your child’s surprise when they find this official document waiting for them right at the entrance! You could even add a little “snow” (aka, flour or powdered sugar) around it for an extra touch of North Pole magic.
⭐Pinned on your front door – This will make it look like a top-secret message delivered straight from Santa’s headquarters!
⭐In the mailbox – This one’s a classic for a reason! Roll it up, tie it with a festive ribbon, and maybe even add a wax seal to make it look extra official.
⭐Delivered by a “spy” elf – If you have an Elf on the Shelf, have the elf “deliver” the notice!
⭐Under your child’s pillow or on their nightstand – This is perfect for a little late-night surprise!
⭐Hidden in a Christmas book – I would love to see the surprised faces of all the kids who open their favorite Christmas book only to find this official notice tucked inside. Deliciously adorable, I’m sure!
⭐On their windowsill – This is another fun way to add a touch of mystery. Did it magically appear overnight? Did a mischievous elf deliver it? Let their imaginations run wild!
