📅 Calendar Planning Hacks for a Magical March
I believe in making my calendar work for me, not the other way around. Even more, since these monthly calendars are such versatile planning tools. So, here are some of my favorite tricks for making the most of those blank squares.
🌈 Visual Organization
Simply writing things in the allocated daily spaces of your calendar is not a bad start, but it can be better! I’m a visual person so I highly rely on color-coding and symbols to make my calendars easy to navigate.
Here’s the color-coding system I use:
🔵 Blue – Work deadlines and meetings
🟢 Green – Family activities
🔴 Red – Important events
🟠 Orange – Errands and chores
🟡 Yellow – Social commitments
🟣 Purple – Self-care
And here are a few symbols that I like to sprinkle in:
⭐Stars – Birthdays
❤️Hearts – Anniversaries
‼️Exclamation points – Important deadlines
💲Dollar signs – Bill payments and other purchases
💡Lightbulbs – Bright ideas
✔️Checkmarks – Completed tasks
✈️Airplanes – Travel plans
🎵Music notes – Concerts and performances
🙂Smiley faces – Fun outings
Feel free to steal my strategy or create your own! Whatever helps you make sense of your schedule!
⏳ Time Blocking – Amped Up Productivity
Have you ever heard of time blocking? It’s a game-changer for productivity!
Long story short, you divide your day into chunks of time and assign specific tasks or activities to each block. This helps you stay focused and avoid getting sidetracked by those pesky distractions – like that never-ending social media scroll.
A while back, I created these free printable time-blocking templates and now I can’t even remember how I used to manage without them. They have made my days and weeks feel soo much more organized!
🎯 Goal-Setting Glory
Now, let’s talk about goals. Setting goals can definitely work, whether they’re big or small. And what better place to keep track of them than on your trusty monthly calendar?
I like to use my calendar to set monthly, weekly, or even daily goals. It helps me stay focused and motivated, and it’s incredibly satisfying to check those goals off my list as I achieve them.
✨ Things To Do In March
Once you shake off the winter blues and embrace the start of Spring, there are plenty of things to enjoy in March. And half the fun will be using our trusty calendars to carve out some time for these holidays and activities.
🎭 Mardi Gras
Mardi Gras is just around the corner (March 5th, to be exact!), and it sure makes a good way to start the month.
Fun fact: Mardi Gras means “Fat Tuesday” in French and preparing a delicious Cajun feast is the perfect way to celebrate it. Make it complete with some great music and sweet treats!
🍀 St. Patrick’s Day
You don’t have to be Irish to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day – I’m not! But I do love wearing green, enjoying some festive food and drinks, and maybe even catching a parade.
I’m going to mark March 17th with a clover doodle on my calendar to make sure I don’t miss it!
🧺 Spring Cleaning
Yep, spring cleaning is no one’s idea of a good time, but it is needed, and so worth it.
There’s something so satisfying about decluttering, organizing, and giving my home a fresh start. Plus, you might uncover some lost or forgotten-about items just to make it even more satisfying. I once found a twenty-dollar bill hiding in my sock drawer. Score!

To make spring cleaning a little less daunting, I always rely on this free printable spring cleaning checklist.
There’s a pre-filled version and a blank one, so you can customize it to fit your needs. And don’t forget about the garage! It’s often an overlooked area, but it deserves some love too. I’ve got a free printable garage deep cleaning checklist to help you tackle that beast of a task.
🌱 Garden Planning
My amateur gardening skills are getting better every year and I’m proud of the results. Isn’t nurturing plants and watching them grow magical?
With the arrival of spring, I’m sure everyone’s garden needs some tender love and care. This free printable garden planner is my trusty sidekick and just as good for total beginners.
It has lots of helpful tools and trackers so you won’t miss anything, from planting dates to harvest times.
So, what are you waiting for? Let’s grab our favorite calendars and start planning the first month of Spring! 🌷
And let’s have a quick chat too. I’d love to know which themes you fancy and your best planning hacks and strategies.
