A hammock in the shade and a stack of novels are my idea of a perfect summer day. But can we get the kids to agree? To encourage a little page-turning this summer, I created this free printable summer reading chart and tracker for kids. It’s a fun tool to motivate them to read more, track their progress, and celebrate every book they finish!

I’ve always believed that reading is an adventure in itself, but sometimes kids need a little extra nudge to see that. Especially with all the distracting devices we have these days.
This free printable summer reading chart and tracker is a fun and interactive way to keep kids engaged with books throughout the summer months, and also great for summer homeschooling. Hopefully, you can also reach the ultimate goal: to inspire a lifelong love of reading!
📕 Summer Reading Chart

Okay, let’s talk about the first page of this awesome printable – the summer reading chart. This is where kids can easily document their summer reading journey.
👉There’s space to write down the title, start, and end for each book they read. Also, it comes with a 5-star rating system so kids can asses how much they liked it.
The rating system is more important than you think and offers a hidden benefit to this summer reading log. It makes the kids reflect on what they’re reading and form opinions. Developing critical thinking skills, one book at a time!
📚 Summer Reading Tracker (Coloring Sheet)

Rating those books is great but I thought we need a little more fun here. And that’s what the second page is for.
👉This summer reading tracker is a colorable set of bookshelves. There are 50 different items to color, and each colored item = one read book.
Your little reader will have a fun and satisfying way of tracking completed books and maybe (hopefully) color in all 50 items before the summer ends!

☀️ More Free Summer Printables For Kids
Now that you have the free printable summer reading chart and tracker, you’re all set for a summer of reading adventures. But our little future bookworms also need some responsibilities, a larger variety of fun activities, and overall, a well-established summer routine.
I went for my usual fix. Make it fun!

📌Endless negotiations about screen time? Try this free printable summer screen time rules checklist. It’s editable so you can set up a custom routine that balances screen time with responsibilities, various activities, and even outdoor fun!
📌Of course, figuring out how to limit and use screen time as a reward is great, but this can’t be the only reward your kids get for a job well done. Enter these free printable chore punch cards.
They’re fully editable which means you can add your own chores (which can also be activities) and rewards. And of course, the rewards can be anything not just screen time.

📌And to keep track of all those fun summer plans? I also created this free printable summer calendar! It has a page for each month, so you can easily map out your adventures, appointments, and everything in between. It’s editable too, making it super simple to change the calendar dates and add your own events.
These are some tried and tested ways to bring some structure to summer vacation while also keeping the kids entertained. Do you have any tips or tricks for conquering summer chaos? Let’s chat in the comments!
