Updated November, 2019. Organize your week with this free weekly planner printable.
If you’re trying to get organized, this free weekly planner printable is a great way to plan your week. Since it includes two common sizes, half letter and letter size, you can just print it on regular printer paper and slip it into any binders/planners/whatever system you’re currently using.
Why Use A Weekly Planner?
There are several reasons to use a weekly planner, but the most common reason is that it will save yourself loads of time and keep you organized. Every year I vowed that I was going to get organized once and for all. Guess what happened when I finally made that leap and started using one. My life was still hectic, but I felt so much less stress. I organized literally everything I was working on and would refer to my planner daily. It felt so relieving to keep my day-to-day commitments and plans in one place in the planner.
Granted, I still use a monthly calendar so I can look ahead. But, using a weekly planner allows me to focus on what’s happening right now. Whether it’s ball games, in-laws visiting, exercise classes, book clubs, or snacks that I need to make for an event, I have it right there at arms reach anytime I need it.
How To Save Money Using A Weekly Planner
Let’s face it; everything is becoming more and more expensive. That gives you extra reason to be frugal and save money here and there. Let’s say you need to whip up a batch of cupcakes and you wrote it on your planner. You are way more likely actually to bake the cupcakes because you have time blocked off. This saves you going to the bakery and buying an expensive batch. That’s an obvious way that using a planner will save some money.
P.S – This is the planner pictured above.
How Do I Stick To My Planner?
I don’t like wasting paper in my home. So, I try to save as much as I can. I printed the free weekly planner and laminated it for keeping in the house. I use dry erase markers to fill it in. It is easy to erase and reuse for the next week without wasting. Another idea I have tried is to print the planner and place it in a picture frame. It looks really classy when it’s in a frame! 🙂
When I need the weekly planner pages for my purse, I print them out and insert them into my planner. I seem to always be on the go, so it is nice to grab it and update wherever I am.

Trust me; I know all too well how it feels to start a planner and not stick with it. Don’t worry; there may be some days that you don’t follow it because something unexpected happens. Or you end up sick and need to take some down time. That’s normal when you’re first starting out. Once you have a system in place, you will enjoy it. Here are some tips to help you get organized and stick to it:
- Pick a particular day each week, and add everything to your planner. Dedicating a specific day and time will make you feel committed, and you aren’t going to want to miss a deadline. It will become a habit after repeating this over and over again.
- Add in other events and curveballs as you find out about them. There will be plenty of days when you have the planner filled in, and something comes up. That’s totally normal, and you can quickly overcome it. Just adjust the plan or add it in. You should always give yourself some time in the week to plan for surprises, so they aren’t so stressful when they do creep up on you.
- Be specific when planning. It’s much more effective if you write “bake muffins for PTO” than if you are vague. It is all too easy to forget what you intended to do unless you are specific.
- Make a routine and try not to steer away from when possible. Let’s say you have a goal to clean out the fridge every Friday, block out time on your planner every single week. It will be a routine, and you’ll know what you needed to do that day.
Bonus tip: If you’re anything like me, you’ll remember something important while you’re driving. Don’t grab the planner and start writing in it. That can be dangerous. Instead, tell your iphone “Hey Siri, add a note to …” The iphone will transcribe your speech into a note and you can write it down when you get to your destination.
If you have a bad day here and there, don’t worry, it happens to everyone. Just dust yourself off and keep going because, in the end, you will be glad you did.

If you’re printing the half letter size, there are two options to print – an actual half letter size and one that’s set up to print two printables on an 8.5×11″ letter sized page. I think it’s more efficient to print it out two on one sheet, so recommend you go for that one if you’re going to be trimming to size anyway!
The printable is available in two sizes – 5.5×8.5 Half Letter Size and 8.5×11 Letter Size
Please note: These are for personal use only. Do not upload the printable files to your own site. If you’d like to share this printable, please do so by linking to this post. Thanks!
