Use this {free} Dot Grid Paper Printable {US letter, 8×10, A4, A5, A6 pocket and personal sizes} to give bullet journaling a try! There is no need to spend a lot of money of preprinted dot grid book until you know you love them!

These dot papers are set up for every bullet journaling lover and personal planners.
Are you a bujo (bullet journaling) novice or a seasoned vet who just doesn’t have the gift of beautiful writing? (Me too!) Being neat while writing and making creative designs are difficult for a lot of us without the use of dot grid paper to use as a guideline.
This set has seven different sizes to accommodate almost every size of planner imaginable. Best of all, I am providing them for free to help you get started on the bullet journaling without having to invest in an expensive planner.
I’m a very messy writer, so I love the idea of using blank bullet journal printable paper to keep things neat. I’ve recently wanted to give bullet journaling a try. But I didn’t want to move out of my current planner that’s customized to my needs.
These digital papers are a happy medium, which means I can keep my daily planner that keeps me on task and fill in with clean, crispy new dot grid papers to start my bujo journey.
Paper Sizes
There are seven different printable sizes available for free:
- US Letter | This is a standard piece of paper at 8.5 inches x 11 inches. Some of you asked for a margin on the paper while others preferred the dots to extend all the way to the edge, so I provided both.
- 8 x 10 | This is the size of a larger photograph that you receive for school photos. 8 inches x 10 inches.
- A4 | 8.3 inches x 11.7 inches which is the standard size of typing paper by the International Standards Organization. This is more common in Australia and the UK, but you’ll see it in the US too.
- A5 | 5.8 inches x 8.3 inches used a lot in stationary, greeting cards, flyers and a lot of junk mail. You may also note that it is one half the size of the A4.
- A6 | 4.1 inches x 5.8 inches with no margins.
- Pocket | 3.5 inches x 5.5 inches.
- Personal | Sized perfectly to fit a Filofax Personal Notebook sized at 3.7 inches x 6.75 inches. There is enough margin space to punch holes here and fill up your planner.

The great thing is there is no commitment is necessary! So I decided to make some dot grid paper sized for my A5 planner that I can just punch and add into my planner and thought I’d share it with you guys!

I love using this paper for brainstorming, goal planning or any of the more creative things where my writing tends to sprawl all over the place and take over the page. If it sounds like I have terrible handwriting, it’s because I DO! So this really helps keep things in check.
By the way, the little “weekly goals” list is totally random and I just jotted it down quickly to make the dots more obvious in the picture. So no, unfortunately making rolls is not on my list of goals this week. But there’s always next week. #dreambig
How to Cut the Paper
Fortunately, all of our pages have guide lines for you to cut from.
Scissors | This is an ok choice if you are good at cutting straight lines.
Paper Trimmer | Using a paper trimmer allows you to slide the paper that you just pulled off your printer into the trimmer and slice. There are guidelines given and a lip on the top and bottom so that it has something to snuggle up against. I like to slice the longest side first and then the shorter side If you use a Fiskars one, you can usually do 2-4 pieces at a time before it will slide and give you irregular cuts.
Alternatively, using a guillotine trimmer will allow you to cut several pieces at once just like you would in the school office. These are the powerhouse for just a few bucks more but can be risky if you have small kids in your house.

Printable FAQ
I included guide marks along the top, bottom and sides so you can simply line them up with your cutter and slice. That way you can still print on traditional 8.5 x 11 paper and don’t have to worry about your printer settings.
No, each size mentioned is already ready for you to add to your computer and start printing. This is the simplest way to do it for our readers as not everyone is as computer savvy so we take away that barrier so everyone can enjoy.
I received a lot of feedback that you wanted dot grid pages that extend to the width of the page in addition to the ones with margins, so I added both in the PDF file. That way, you can have the flexibility to make it your own!
Nope! Personal size comes in at 3.7 inches x 6.75 inches and the A6
Yes, funny how this is the perfect size to fit into a pocket rather than the actual “pocket sized” dot grid. Try them all and see what works best for your needs.
Once the printer is finished printing the FIRST side, turn the paper over and put it back in the paper tray and press PRINT again.

Where did you get your binder?
Nat, that binder was purchased years ago in NC. Probably not something that is out now, unfortunately! 🙂
The dots are printed too light. I am finding very hard to see dots on paper. Is there any chance you can share dot pages which is slightly darker visible and full A4 size. Thanks
Ritz, there is an A4 size available on the page. Did it print out ok for you? They are meant to be hard to see so that you can practice without the dots being glaring in your face! Eventually, we all want to write/draw without the dots….at least I do! 🙂 lol!!! Is there a setting on your printer to print darker, by chance?

Hi,
You dotted template is the best that I’ve found on the web. The dots are very sharp and of the perfect size.
The only thing that I changed for my personal use is a very with 2 pages in letter format. This way, I can choose the “Both sides” option to have papers with dots on two sides.
