📅 Calendar Planning Hacks For A Fun July
I’ve been using monthly calendars for years, and I picked up a few tricks along the way. So let’s talk strategy!
👉Color Coding
Is it fun to use various colored pens for planning. Yes! But there’s more to it. Color coding helps me see at a glance what kind of day I have in store. This is how I use colors, but feel free to adjust it to your needs:
Color | Category |
---|---|
🔵 Blue | Work deadlines and meetings |
🟢 Green | Family activities |
🔴 Red | Important events |
🟠 Orange | Errands and chores |
🟡 Yellow | Social commitments |
🟣 Purple | Self-care |
👉Symbols
Symbols are another trick I use to navigate these calendars. It’s a quick and easy way to see what’s happening without having to squint at tiny handwriting. Here are a few of my go-to symbols:
Symbol | Meaning |
---|---|
⭐ Star | Birthdays |
❤️ Heart | Anniversaries |
‼️ Exclamation points | Important deadlines |
💲 Dollar sign | Bill payments and other purchases |
💡 Lightbulb | Bright ideas |
✔️ Checkmark | Completed tasks |
✈️ Airplane | Travel plans |
🎵 Music note | Concerts and performances |
🙂 Smiley face | Fun outings |
📝 Don’t Overcrowd Your Calendar
Monthly calendars are certainly useful, but if these are your only planning tools, it’s gonna be a struggle. Those little squares cannot fit too much info.
I compensate with this free printable weekly planner and I dive into my schedule even further with my free printable daily planner. They’re great for keeping track of all the nitty-gritty details.
🗐 Use Multiple Calendars
This might seem like overkill but trust me, it actually makes your life easier. Since those daily spaces available in monthly calendars are so small, it’s better to have several copies, each for a different purpose.
I keep one for errands and house chores, one for my blog-related work, one for meal planning, and one for workouts and outdoor activities. I revisit them every morning while I have my coffee. Trust me, they make all the difference in staying organized.
✨ Things To Do in July
Our day-to-day lives might feel a little mundane but every month of the year has something special to offer. For some (like me) the summer months are the best and July ranks #1. So let’s sprinkle in some July magic!
After all, these adorable calendars aren’t just for keeping track of appointments. They’re also a reminder to embrace life!
🗽 Independence Day
First things first, let’s talk about the biggie: Independence Day! Fireworks, barbecues, and good old-fashioned family fun – what’s not to love?

⛱️ Vacation Time!
It’s the prime time for vacations. And yes, I believe you can make your vacation fun no matter your budget.
Don’t get me wrong, jetting off to a tropical paradise sounds like a dream, but hitting the road for a cross-country adventure, a camping trip, or even a staycation can be amazing if planned well.
So now you have another excuse to use my free printable July 2026 calendars. While you’re at it, also grab this free printable travel binder to plan every little detail of your adventure.
And if camping is more your style, don’t forget this handy free printable camping checklist. Because who wants to arrive at the campsite only to realize they’ve forgotten the marshmallows?
📚 Back-to-School Prep
Okay, I know, I know… it’s hard to believe that back-to-school season is just around the corner. But trust me, it’ll be here before you know it!

🌱 Garden Glory
Is there ever a time when our gardens don’t need maintenance? Not really! However, it is immensely satisfying to nurture it and enjoy the results.
While it won’t do all those gardening chores in your place, this free printable garden planner sure makes things easier. It’s a simple way to keep track of watering, weeding, harvesting, and anything else garden-related.
My passion for planning comes with a slight obsession for office supplies. So tell me, what are your favorite planning tools? Do you prefer colorful pens, markers, washi tape, or cute stickers? Share your must-haves in the comments – I’m always up for trying new things! 🖍️
