Decluttering, laundry, AND cleaning? How do you navigate that? Well, I’ve got a little secret that’ll change your life or at least your cleaning routine! It’s my free printable cleaning flowchart, perfected to streamline your home cleaning process, from polishing dusty shelves to washing grimy towels.
When I was younger, my cleaning was quite erratic. I’d start one task, then get distracted by another, and before I knew it, several hours had passed and I barely got to finish a few chores.
Let’s face it: cleaning is never JUST cleaning. It’s also doing laundry, putting stuff back where it belongs, and getting rid of items you don’t need anymore. So I figured out a better, more productive method to get my house all neat and sparkly.
This free printable cleaning flowchart provides a logical way to tackle your cleaning while also staying on top of laundry.
🧹 Cleaning Flowchart
Okay, let’s break down this cleaning flowchart so you can see how it works! Think of it as your personal cleaning coach, guiding you through the process step-by-step in a logical order.
Declutter
There’s no way you can clean efficiently when your home is full of random items so decluttering is the first step.
You might be wondering why this section also includes stripping linens and sorting laundry. Well, my friend, it’s all about efficiency! Think of it as killing two birds with one stone.
As you’re decluttering each room, you’re also gathering those dirty linens and clothes, so they’re ready to be washed. This way, you’re not running back and forth between rooms later on. Smart, right?
- Pick up trash
- Pick up stray items
- Dishes to sink
- Strip linens
- Sort laundry
🧺And with all of the above finished, it’s time to start your first load of laundry.
Kitchen
Alright, let’s head to the heart of the home: the kitchen! This is where the magic happens, but it’s also where things can get messy quickly. Here’s the game plan:
- Wash dishes
- Clean fridge/freezer/pantry
- Wipe cabinets & appliances
- Wipe surfaces
- Dust light fixtures
🧺Let’s switch gears for a moment and tend to our second load of laundry. Transfer that first load to the dryer or drying rack, and toss in a new batch of clothes.
Bathroom(s)
Cleaning the bathroom requires some elbow grease, but it is necessary. At the end, you’ll clean the kitchen and bathroom floors. Yes, we’re doing one after the other, for the sake of efficiency.
- Clean bath/shower, sink, and toilets
- Polish faucets
- Wipe cabinets and surfaces
- Clean mirrors
- Sweep/mop kitchen & baths
🧺Back to laundry duty, just for a little bit. Fold and put away the first load, remove the second one from the washing machine, and move it to the dryer or drying rack. Then, put in the third load of laundry and move on to the next section.
Bedrooms
Remember, a clean and organized bedroom can do wonders for your mood and sleep quality. So, let’s make those beds, fluff those pillows, and banish those dust bunnies!
- Make beds
- Dust surfaces top to bottom
- Tidy up closets & drawers
- Wipe baseboards
🧺We’re not done yet, but we’re getting close! Fold and put away the second load of laundry, and move the third one to the dryer or drying rack. If you don’t have any more laundry, lucky you! Otherwise, put in a new load in the washer. It’ll be done by the time you finish the remaining cleaning chores.
Everywhere
Now it’s time to tackle those “everywhere” chores – the tasks that need attention throughout your entire house.
Here’s the final stretch:
- Clear cobwebs
- Dust surfaces top to bottom
- Clean baseboards
- Vacuum/sweep/mop floors & stairs
- Straighten pillows & blankets
I like to start with those annoying cobwebs lurking in the corners. Then, it’s time to dust all the surfaces, from the high shelves to the often-forgotten baseboards. And finally, give those floors a good cleaning, whether they need vacuuming, sweeping, or mopping.
And don’t forget those finishing touches! Straighten the pillows and blankets on your couch and beds for a polished look. It’s amazing what a difference these little details can make. ✨
💡 Supercharge Your Cleaning – Efficiency Tips
This free printable cleaning flowchart has revolutionized my cleaning routine. However, I do a few more things to make it even more productive. Here are a few tips that’ll let you streamline yours:
📌Gather Your Supplies – Before you even think about lifting a duster, gather all your cleaning supplies and keep them within reach. A cleaning caddy or bucket can be a lifesaver! This way, you won’t waste time running back and forth searching for that elusive bottle of glass cleaner.
📌Time Yourself – Set a timer for each task to stay focused and motivated. This will help you avoid getting sidetracked. This approach is similar to the one in my free printable speed cleaning checklist. Be sure to grab it for whenever you need to make your house look presentable in the fastest time. It’s a life-saver!
📌Prioritize – Take a look at the flowchart and identify your cleaning priorities. Do you absolutely need to tackle every single task, or can you skip a few? Just cross off those chores and focus on the rest.
