This free Serenity Prayer printable wall art can remind you of the popular prayer that can help you find some peace of mind. It’s cute chic and would look wonderful in your bedroom, kitchen, or nursery!

What Is The Serenity Prayer?
The Serenity prayer’s purpose is to help those found in difficult moments find courage, wisdom, and peace of mind.
Reinhold Niebuhr, an American theologian, philosopher, and professor, is the author of the Serenity prayer. The first printed copy appeared in 1936, although there is evidence of an earlier version from 1933.
Since then, it became one of the most popular prayers and traveled all across the globe, as it’s been translated into over 20 languages.
Part of the Serenity prayer’s success are the simple but powerful words it uses. They have a way of reaching our hearts and are easy to remember.
Etsy, the well-known platform for handcrafted goods, has quite a few items with the famous prayer’s words, so it’s safe to say it’s still used a lot.
Because of these simple and beautiful words, it’s being used by Alcoholics Anonymous members battling addiction and for so many other situations when we need to find our inner peace.

What you might have seen as the Serenity prayer short version is, in fact, the first part of the prayer. Here it is verse by verse:
“God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.”
The Serenity prayer long version, also includes this paragraph:
“Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
As it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
If I surrender to His Will;
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life
And supremely happy with Him
Forever and ever in the next.”
I noticed some variants that refer to Jesus by name, but everything else seems to be the same.
Our printable includes the full version of the Serenity prayer, so at least you have the option to use it if you ever need to.
This one happens to be my personal preference. It’s always nice to take your time when praying!
