This handy Recipe Binder will save you from a constant state of organizational chaos!
I was at a loss for years trying to figure out how to deal with all the recipes that I collect and print out. I’m just like you. I thumb through Pinterest, save and print lots of ideas. I added those to my existing family favorites that were sitting in my handy dandy lime green binder (Why lime green? So it would be easy to find!) Now, I did put the recipes in clear plastic sleeves to protect them, but that was about it.
A few years ago, I started using binders and printables to keep myself organized and I feel so much better!
Can you tell by all the printable posts we have on the blog? Yep, this is how I stay organized! Mini Finance Binder, Holiday Binder, Organizational Binder, Medical Binder and the new Vacation Binder is coming up in a couple weeks. We also have Free Printable Binder Covers with labeled inserts to give you flexibility!
I like my binders all lined up and I feel more at ease with my life organized. Don’t blame it on my OCD, please! I can’t tell you how much time I spent sorting through pages and pages of recipes before I found the one I was looking for. It was insane! We all want an organized kitchen and if possible, we want it to look good as well.
So! The Recipe Binder is simple and sweet. You’ll get a cover page, binder spines and sheets to divide each section. If you’re interested, let me email the entire package to you!
🧡 Why You’ll Love These
Stay Organized | Put all of those scraps of paper, print out recipes and everything you have clipped from magazines into this handy binder for safe keeping.
Arrange How You Like | Use the dividers that fits you best or don’t use them at all.
Use for Gifts | I love to give recipe binders as gifts of our families favorites. Use the same idea for your young adult going off to college or his / her first apartment. They won’t need to call you for the favorite potato dish recipe.
Use the Is it Done Yet printable from USDA to put in the front of the binder so you’ll never guess again if the food you’re cooking is done.
📒 Supplies Needed
Page Dividers I used white ones once (ONCE!) and that was just a mess. You can’t see the different sections very well. So, go for bright colors that stand out.
Page Protectors have saved me so many times. You can see from my pre-binder recipes that there are tons of stains and spill marks. Not now! They are all protected behind these plastic page protectors and remain clean. If I do get a splatter on them, I just wipe it off and move on.
Binders I like to buy a set like this that has different colors so I know one color is for my recipes and a different color is for budgeting. If you plan to use the binder system, this is the way to go. I tend to lean towards the 1 ½ inch ones, but you need to choose what is right for you. I like this as it gives me enough space with enough room to grow.
📎 Getting Set Up
Once you have your tools all collected, here is the process to get this organized in a jiffy! It can be done in about an hour or so with no family interruptions.
Step One: Start from scratch and collect all the recipes you have printed off. If any are in slip covers, take them out. We are starting fresh, here.
Step Two: Divide them into categories: main dishes, desserts, sides. You’ll have an insert for each.
Step Three: Put each recipe into a sleeve. These plastic sleeves are almost always double sided, so definitely use both sides.
Step Four: Put all the recipes into the binder organized with the dividers and cover sheets.
Step Five: Put this on your shelf and now when you are looking for your favorite pasta recipe, you can spend two minutes looking instead of 20!
That’s it! It should take you about an hour…uninterrupted! I keep saying that because it will be a mess until you are able to dedicate the time to complete this task. I tried and failed to make it happen until the men were out of the house. Let’s get organized.
Add in the Kitchen Conversion Chart, Baking Pan Conversion Chart, Cooking and Baking Substitutions Charts, How to Cut a Recipe in Half and Egg Substitutes Chart. These are excellent references and you’ll want to keep them handy.
