On those scorching summer afternoons, there’s nothing better than a cold, refreshing popsicle. These sugar-free strawberry banana smoothie popsicles are my healthy way to cool down. They also happen to be vegan and dairy-free, but trust me, there is no compromise on taste.

My favorite sweet treat when the weather warms up is blended frozen bananas and strawberries, and I made it as often as I could last year before it got too cold to be practical.
Now that spring is upon us and things are heating up, I’m happily breaking out the food processor again and getting into frozen treat mode!
I wanted something fresh, so I created this strawberry banana smoothie popsicle recipe.
This recipe has less added sugar thanks to using Splenda and since we’re using coconut milk, this recipe is vegan friendly!
The banana and coconut milk make these super creamy (which I guess is kind of a requirement in a smoothie popsicle). The fresh chunks of strawberry brightens the whole thing up, and the lime juice and Splenda creates a great tart to sweetness balance.
🍌 Ingredients
There are only 5 ingredients needed to make these popsicles. They are OH, SO GOOD! Let’s take a look at what you need.

Strawberries
Bananas
Coconut Milk – Not only does the full-fat coconut milk taste like you are on a tropical island, but it’s also very creamy. If you really want to have fun, make your own coconut milk!
Lime juice – A bit of extra acidity to balance the sweetness make the popsicles taste fresh and summery.
Splenda – I used this zero-calorie sweetener to skip all those extra carbs.
🍓 Instructions

Step 1: Thinly slice three to four large strawberries and set aside. Add all of the other ingredients to the food processor. Blend for about 30 seconds, until the mixture is creamy.

Step 2: Evenly distribute sliced strawberries between all popsicle molds.

Step 3: Pour mixture into each popsicle mold. Make sure to leave some space at the top (about ¼ inch is enough)for expansion as they freeze. Tap the mold down a few times to release any air bubbles, then top up with more mixture as necessary. Insert popsicle sticks.
Step 4: Freeze for 5-6 hours. Run the molds under warm water to help remove popsicles. Or, to get them all at once, fill a large casserole dish with warm water, and sit the mold in the casserole dish for a few seconds.

📌 Expert Tips
I only have one popsicle mold and had leftover mixture (this recipe makes 10 to 14 pops), so I poured myself a smoothie with the leftovers. You know, for the sake of recipe testing. 🤣 I’m happy to report that it’s just as good in liquid form!
My number one tip! Using really ripe strawberries and bananas gives you the most natural sweetness, meaning you might need less (or even no!) added sweetener.
Flavors dull a little when frozen. I always taste the smoothie mixture before pouring it into the molds. Add a bit more lime juice for tartness or a touch more sweetener if needed.
It’s vital to run the popsicle molds under warm water, or they won’t come out of the molds easily.
Try out other fruits like pineapple, mango, or peaches. Let us know what combinations work well so we can try it too.
Recipe FAQs
Peaches, mango, pineapple, kiwi, and the list goes on and on. There are so many fruit combinations that would work well. You could even add some blueberries for a fun purple color too.
Typically, as long as they are frozen, they will last 3-4 weeks. This is perfect for making a larger batch and having them on hand during the summer heat.
For long term storage, remove them from the molds once they’re fully frozen and wrap each one individually in plastic wrap or place them in a freezer bag.
Don’t worry at all if you don’t have a popsicle mold. You can use little paper cups, leftover yogurt containers, ice cube trays, or even muffin tins.

Homemade popsicles are always a good thing…when they are part smoothie too…even better!
Strawberry banana smoothies are my favourite. I can never keep the ingredients in my house longer than a day. I have saved this recipe to try out the popsicles when it gets warmer.
These look great. So fresh and delicious. I bet the coconut milk offers such a creamy base. I would definitely try these.
Those look absolutely delicious and so refreshing! Glad I live in Southern California, where those are perfect all year round!
These look delicious! My kids would fight me for them for sure. Hmm maybe I will make them while they are at school so I don’t have to share lol
Perfect for summer! A nice, natural alternative to the store bought stuff.
Oh that sounds so good. Yup! Perfect for when it gets warmer though I still enjoy the whole fruit bars now, so this would be perfect actually for anytime. Never thought of making them on my own until now. Good idea. Thank you!
My daughters love strawberries and especially strawberry popsicles. We try to limit our intake of refined sugar in our family and use a good bit of stevia to do so. I had no idea that Splenda now makes a stevia product!
I love making my own pops for the kids. This looks like a great recipe to try!
It really warmed up today and I could use a treat like this! They sound delicious and it’s very cool that they use Splenda naturals!
Yum, I would love to try these this summer. I love a good frozen treat on warm days. I also like you used Splenda.
Thanks, Rebecca! 🙂
