🍽️ Why This Works
Fast and efficient. Air Fry Frozen Waffles takes five minutes tops. No more running them through endless toaster cycles to get the right level of crispiness. Get them right the first time with our method.
Easy for kids or adults. Your tweens and teens can easily throw waffles in the air fryer each morning for a grab-and-go handheld breakfast for the bus.
Tasty waffles without mixing and stirring. When you have a craving for delicious, crunch waffles but really don’t want to get out the mixing bowl, it’s the perfect time to make air fryer frozen waffles.
Ingredients
Frozen Waffles | Literally all you need for a fantastic breakfast is frozen waffles and an air fryer. You will love how these waffles thaw and crisp up evenly in just minutes.
Toppings of Choice | You aren’t actually required to put toppings on a waffle. They taste just fine as plain, sweet bread, and that works great for busy mornings when you need to run out the door with breakfast in hand. However, these waffles also work well with any variety of toppings your heart desires. Load ’em up!
⏲️ Equipment and Tools
Air Fryer. Have I mentioned how much we love having an air fryer in the house? We have both the Ninja Basket, Ninja Foodi 12 in 1 Basket and the Instant Vortex 7 in 1 10 quart.
🔥 Instructions
Step One: Place two frozen waffles into a basket-style air fryer or air fryer tray. Spraying with cooking spray is optional.
Step Two: Heat to 360ºF and cook for 5 – 6 minutes, flipping halfway through. Serve hot with toppings. We love fresh berries, chocolate chips or slathering with peanut butter.
❗ Expert Tips
If you have a basket-style air fryer, you can cook two waffles at once. A metal rack for your air fryer should allow you to stack another waffle or two on top of the tray and cook up to four at once in the same amount of time because the rack allows for airflow.
If your air fryer is shaped more like a toaster oven with trays, you can cook as many waffles as will fit in a single layer on the tray. The time required should not increase.
If you have a convection oven, the same cooking method applies as it is nothing more than a giant “air fryer”. The advantage is that you can cook a whole baking sheet full of frozen waffles in the same way. Because of the size of the cavity that has to be heated, it might take a little longer.
If your air fryer basket is too small to cook two frozen waffles in a single layer, you should only cook one at a time.
Preheat your air fryer for best results. If you do not preheat, the first set of waffles might take a little bit longer to cook through.

Leftovers Storage
Store the leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days in an airtight container.
Reheating is easy in the air fryer. Set temp at 375°F for 2 minutes, flipping half way through.
Meal Prep
Before you pop those frozen waffles in, make sure you have the right toppings on hand and ready to go.
Make a fantastic waffle bar for your family on the weekend by prepping a variety of topping choices the night before so that everyone can build their own masterpiece waffle.
Substitutions
If you can’t find these, try frozen pancakes. They are thinner and will take a little less time in the air fryer, but the flavor is similar.
Frozen chocolate waffles, chocolate chip waffles, and cinnamon waffles are all fantastic. Give those varieties a try!
Gluten-free waffles work in the air fryer! Look for Vans, Kashi, Nature’s Path, Trader Joe’s, Wegman or Kinnikinnick brands.

Topping Variations
Get creative when it comes to dressing up your waffles with toppings. Here are a few fun ideas to get you started.
Apple Pie Filling and Whipped Cream. Heat the pie filling through while your waffles are in the air fryer.
Macerated Fruit. Fruit soaked in sugar or alcohol develops a delicious sauce all on its own as it soaks. This is called “macerating” fruit. Most commonly, sliced strawberries are soaked in sugar until the natural juices come out. When stirred, the sugar and the juice combine to create a syrupy sauce perfect for your waffles. Add a little whipped cream if you like. Other fruits will also work.
Chocolate Ganache. Chocolate melted in warmed-up heavy whipping cream forms a luscious sauce known as ganache. Pour this sauce over your waffle for a chocolate lover’s dream.
Maple syrup and butter. The classic waffle topping combination, syrup, and homemade butter bring out the kids in us and remind us of home and Saturday morning cartoons. Change it up a bit with different types of syrup.
Nutella, Peanut butter, or both. These classic spreads are a favorite waffle topping and still allow the waffle to be handheld so it can go on the bus with you. Make your own nut butter (almond or pistachio) or homemade chocolate hazelnut spread.
