This oat granola is crazy simple to make, and you will love that you get to control the flavors and ingredients used. Whether you like to make traditional variety like or jazz it up a bit like the Cranberry Peanut Butter or Gingerbread varieties, this is going to rank up there as a family favorite. Any version you choose works perfectly with the Homemade Yogurt Parfaits or mixed in with your own Homemade Yogurt in the Instant Pot or the Slow Cooker.

I used easy to find and simple ingredients of cinnamon, brown sugar, and maple to help add sweetness and flavor to the delicious oats.

Simple Instructions Make This a Guaranteed Winner!

Step One: Add all your ingredients into a mixing bowl.

Step Two: Stir the oat mixture. Make sure to mix until well incorporated.

Step Three: Place foil on the air fryer tray, and then spread out the granola in an even layer. Cook at 250 degrees for 30 minutes, stirring a few times.

Step Four: Remove from air fryer and place them on a cookie sheet to cool and dry.

Step Five: Serve and enjoy, or place in container to store.

❗ Expert Tips

Old fashioned oats are best for this recipe. Quick oats and steel cut oats do not work well as their textures don’t incorporate well into the granola.

Allow the granola to dry completely or it will become soggy.

Make sure to stir the granola as it air fries or it may burn.

🌾 Variations

  • Mix in chocolate chips or even peanut butter chips to the granola once cooked. If you do it earlier, they will melt.
  • Change up the spices used. This will change the flavor significantly! For Pumpkin Spice, add in one teaspoon in place of the cinnamon and you will have Pumpkin Spiced Granola. For the Apple Pie Spiced version, add in one tsp of apple pie spices.
  • Add in dried fruit, different nuts, etc.

Recipe FAQ

How to store granola?

Granola can be stored in an airtight container. If you store the granola in the refrigerator, it may soften. So, make sure to use an airtight container. Also, keep it in a dark, cool place like the pantry.

Can you freeze granola?

Place your granola in a freezer bag or airtight container. You can store granola in the freezer for 3-6 months depending on the container you freeze it in. Then when you are ready to use, remove and let it come to room temperature. If you take it out and it isn’t 100% crispy, you can put it in the Air Fryer or oven for a bit to crisp it back up. For the Air Fryer, heat up to 250 again and heat up 5-7 minutes, stirring often. It may take even less if there is just a little moisture. If you seal the bag well, you should not have to do this though.

Can you add dried fruit to granola?

If you want to add fruit into granola, you will want to mix it in once the granola is cooked and cooled. Then just add in your dried fruit. Raisins, cranberries, and dried blueberries all are great options.

How to crisp up soggy granola?

Simply spread the granola out and heat it again. Whether you use an air fryer or place it in the oven, it will help to pull out excess moisture and crisp up the granola. Make sure that you store the granola in a sealed container that won’t suck in outside air.

Why do you use coconut oil?

It keeps the granola crispy. If you don’t have any, you can substitute olive oil but it may give off a slight savory flavor.

What if the granola didn’t get crispy in the Air Fryer?

There is still too much moisture in the oats and it will continue to need to be cooked. Put it back in the fryer and keep cooking it and checking ever three minutes or so. Remember to stir.
