📅 Calendar Planning Hacks For A Stress-free December
You know, I used to think a monthly calendar was just for remembering birthdays and doctor’s appointments. Over time, I started using it for so much more. But simply writing down work stuff, social events, errands, and other tasks also made me realize the drawbacks of calendars.
There’s not much space to write in a calendar so I figured out some practical strategies for more efficient planning.
🌈 Color Coding & Symbols
Grab your highlighters and markers, ladies! Color-coding is a game-changer. Once you assign a color to your to-dos based on their type, a calendar becomes instantly more readable.
👉I’ll share my color coding system below, but feel free to change it as needed and make it your own. You can even color-code your family members. Nothing is off the table!
Color | Category |
---|---|
🔵 Blue | Work deadlines and meetings |
🟢 Green | Family activities |
🔴 Red | Important events |
🟠 Orange | Errands and chores |
🟡 Yellow | Social commitments |
🟣 Purple | Self-care |
👉Symbols are another excellent method to make use of the limited space you get in a monthly calendar. Of course, there’s no end to how many symbols you can use. The ones below are my favorites and once you get the hang of it, you’ll become an expert doodler!
Symbol | Meaning |
---|---|
⭐ Star | Birthdays |
❤️ Heart | Anniversaries |
‼️ Exclamation points | Important deadlines |
💲 Dollar sign | Bill payments and other purchases |
💡 Lightbulb | Bright ideas |
✔️ Checkmark | Completed tasks |
✈️ Airplane | Travel plans |
🎵 Music note | Concerts and performances |
🙂 Smiley face | Fun outings |
⏳ Time Blocking
Juggling micro-tasks can cause a brain meltdown and make you feel like the day is slipping away. And, of course, you can’t fit them all in a monthly calendar.
Well, I have some good news to share! Time blocking is my new best friend when it comes to planning a detailed schedule. It lets me allocate specific chunks of time for tasks, errands, and even relaxation.

These free time-blocking printables made my life so much easier! Instead of struggling to remember what I was supposed to do, they let me focus on actually getting things done.
🤸♀️ Flexibility
Life doesn’t always go as expected so it’s a good idea to prepare for the unexpected. It’s okay to use a pencil at first when filling out your calendar. In fact, I recommend it!
Even more, make sure to leave some buffer time for unexpected things. A bit of spontaneity never hurts, right?
✨ Things To Do in December
The winter holidays are fun, but they also bring an increase in spendings and when it comes to hosting these celebrations, we have our work cut out for us!
I like to map out all the preparations and the festive fun to make things go smoother. Trust me, a little planning goes a long way in keeping this season merry and bright!
📅 Christmas Planning
