It doesn’t matter if you are sad that you didn’t make it to your local State Fair this year (where we used to get the best corn dogs!) or if you are just in the mood for a yummy treat, corn dogs in the air fryer is where it’s at!

The outside is deliciously crispy and slightly sweet. Then, you have the savory hot dog in the center for the win! Using mini corn dogs is key because they cook perfectly and are great for an appetizer or easy dinner for the whole family with no prep time needed. Plus, they are bite-sized so what is better than that?

🍽️ Why This Works

Quick | Because you using store-bought pre-packaged food, there are no long drawn-out steps. Drop those frozen corn dogs in the air fryer and next thing you know they are ready!

Easy | You can decide at the last minute to cook a batch and barely have to put in any effort to get the job done. We all have nights when we need a recipe like that!

Taste Great | I am an adult and I seriously can’t get enough of these. Imagine what happens when you put a plate full in front of hungry kids. They will disappear because they taste so good.

🌭 Ingredients

ingredient photo showing a box of State Fair classic mini corn dogs in front of the air fryer with several dipping sauces.
Just a Couple of Ingredients

Mini Corn Dogs | Any frozen mini corn dogs will work. We typically buy the State Fair and Foster Farms mini corn dogs because we love how they taste and the texture. Go with something you already like and you can’t go wrong.

Dipping Sauces | Use small ramekins to mix up sauces to dip in. We used mustard, ketchup, BBQ sauce, Chick-fil-a sauce, honey mustard and ranch.

⏲️ Equipment and Tools

Air Fryer | You need an air fryer to get the job done. There are many air fryers on the market, but we typically prefer Ninja, Cosori, or Gourmia brands. We used our Ninja 5 qt for this recipe and have used our Instant Vortex 7 in 1 as well. The Vortex does cook everything faster than the Ninja so always test your timing for every recipe you use.

Ramekins or Sauce Cups | Keep several of these on hand. They are perfect for adding just a little bit of dipping sauces.

Air Fryer Liner | You certainly don’t need the silicone liner for this recipe, but it makes cleanup easier and that saves me time! Parchment paper and aluminum foil both work as well.

🔥 Instructions

Simple Dump and Go Instructions Air Fryer Mini Corn Dogs

Step One: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F degrees.

Step Two: Add the frozen mini corn dogs to the air fryer basket in a single layer and cook for 8-10 minutes. Be sure to shake halfway through. They will be golden brown when done. Always leave space between the food as the AF needs circulating air to make a crispy exterior to the food.

Step Three: Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, and enjoy!

Cooking at 375°F degrees, it should take 8-10 minutes.

Full size frozen corn dogs cook at 370°F for 8 minutes, flip over and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

❗ Expert Tips

  • Allow space between the corn dogs when adding them to the basket. Doing so, allows the air flow to properly cook them.
  • Don’t skip flipping the corn dogs or shaking the basket halfway through. Otherwise, one side may be overly done while the other is undercooked.
  • If you prefer a crispier crust, add a little bit of olive oil to the corn dog before cooking. Just do a light layer so they don’t end up soggy.
  • If all the corn dogs don’t fit in the basket, work in batches. Warm your oven to 175 degrees and store the cooked corn dogs in there until they are all done and ready to serve.

All your burning questions: Can You Put Parchment Paper in Air Fryer? Can You Put Foil in the Air Fryer?

🍽️ Leftover Storage

Place the cooled cooked corn dogs in an airtight container. Refrigerate for 3-4 days. The longer they sit, the soggier the breading will become, so check them before reheating to make sure they are still good.

🥄 Reheating Instructions

Place the corn dogs in the air fryer and cook for 4-6 minutes at 375 degrees. They won’t need to cook as long because they aren’t frozen when you are reheating them.

🍴 Substitutions

Feel free to swap the mini corn dogs for regular sized corn dogs. You will need to adjust the cooking time to 12-18 minutes because they are larger. Always start with the lowest time the first time cooking them.

Recipe FAQ

How long to cook air fryer mini corn dogs?

Typically, they cook in 8-10 minutes and are perfectly done. But because every air fryer is a little bit different, you may need to adjust the cooking time based on your model. As you get closer to the end, check them as needed to make sure that they aren’t overcooking or that you don’t need to add a little bit of extra cook time.

Do I need oil spray?

While it’s not required to use oil spray, it’s going to give you a crispier breading. You should spray the corn dogs lightly before cooking, but I don’t think it is typically needed.

How do I preheat my air fryer if it doesn’t automatically?

While many models don’t have a preheat option, you can still preheat the unit. Simply turn the air fryer on to the desired temp. Let the air fryer heat up for 4-5 minutes. Then turn off the unit, add the food and cook as directed.

Can I cook full size corn dogs in the air fryer?

Yes, absolutely! They do take a few extra minutes because they are bigger but other than that it’s going to give you the same results. It’s important to preheat the air fryer for full sized corn dogs or cook them longer if needed. They will take about 12-18 minutes to cook.

What dipping sauce should I use?

Any sauce works, but here are our favorites:
– Ketchup
– Mustard
– Spicy Mustard
– Honey Mustard
– Barbecue Sauce
– Mayonnaise

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Tongs
  • Air Fryer Silicone Liner

Ingredients

  • 10 Mini Corn Dogs frozen

Instructions

  • Heat the air fryer up to 375 degrees. If your air fryer has a pre heat function, allow it to do so.
  • Place the mini corn dogs FROZEN into the air fryer and cook for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Shake half way through the cooking cycle.

Notes

Cooking Time Varies: Typically, they cook in 8-10 minutes and are perfectly done. But because every air fryer is a little bit different, you may need to adjust the cooking time based on your model. As you get closer to the end, check them as needed to make sure that they aren’t overcooking or that you don’t need to add a little bit of extra cook time.
Preheating: While many models don’t have a preheat option, you can still preheat the unit. Simply turn the temperature on to the desired temp. Let the air fryer heat up for 4-5 minutes. Then turn off the unit, add the food and cook as directed.
Cooking Full Size Corn Dogs: It’s important to preheat the air fryer for full sized corn dogs or cook them longer if needed. They will take about 12-18 minutes to cook at 375 degrees.
Don’t Crowd Food: Allow space between the corn dogs when adding them to the basket. Doing so, allows the air flow to properly heat the corn dogs. If they are crowded, they will steam and not be crispy.
Make Sure to Flip the Corn Dogs: Don’t skip flipping the corn dogs or shaking the basket halfway through. Otherwise, one side may be overly done while the other is undercooked.
Crispier Crust: If you prefer a crispier crust, add a little bit of olive oil to the corn dog before cooking. Just do a light layer so they don’t end up soggy.
Work in Batches: If all the corn dogs don’t fit in the basket, work in batches. Warm your oven to 175 degrees and store the cooked corn dogs in there until they are all done.
